Left sided pain

Left side pain, just below rib cage. 55 yrs old, smoker, high blood pressure. Pain persisted for three days now, passing blood in stool

Hi. I am sorry to "hear your story", even though very brief. If we are going to be able to provide any useful iformation, it would be best if you provide more details as much as possible.

My strong advice neverthelss is that you need to see a doctor ASAP. Passing blood in the stool, with a left side upper abdominal pain in a 55 year old is not something that should be taken lightly.

It may well be due to piles (haemorroids) and constipation, but it is best you are seen, a detailed history taken and then examined.

You may also need some basic blood tests and perhaps scans or colonoscopy done, if deemed necessary by your doctor.

Thanks for getting in touch and we hope you get well soon.
