If a girl had unprotected sex 2 days before She went to get the Depo shot, Could she be pregnant? And what would happen to the baby?
Hello Kayse,
There is a risk of having a small for age baby if she actually took a depot injection and happens to be pregnant or depo-povera injection in pregnancy. There is also a risk of the baby becoming unwell shortly after birth, according the manufacturer's leaflet.
Why not do a pregnancy test and see if she is pregnant? If she is, she should go about her normal antenatal care, but obviously alert your doctors right from the outset.
It is not all bad news, for the manufacturer's leaflet says this in continuation "Children exposed in utero showed no adverse effects on their health, including physical, intellectual, sexual or social development."
So, it is a matter of seeing your doctor if pregnant, and let the pregnancy be monitored.
