sharp stabbing pain at the top of my stomach just at the bottom of my rib cage

I am 31 years old.


I have been getting a sharp stabbing pain at the top of my stomach just at the bottom of my rib cage right in the middle the pain goes right through to my back and right up into my right shoulder blade I have had this pain for 10 days now and the only thing that makes me feel better is if I vomit which isn't very nice.

I had my gallbladder removed last year due to having gallstones and ever since then I have had pain on and off and now they are getting worse , lying down or sitting up makes it worse it doesn't matter what I do it just won't go away not even with painkillers and I have tried very strong painkillers and they don't work.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated thank you x

I had my gall bladder removed 18 years ago. I had abdominal pain for over a year after eating before a second ultrasound showed my galll bladder was full of stones. There was no explanation why the first exam did not show stones much to the radiologist 's surprise.
My pain did not disappear but got better about a year later. Five years later my liver enzymes were intermittently elevated, some or all of them. My bile duct became enlarged and on my last ultrasound in 2015 was 1.5 cm.
Yesterday, I saw a bile dust specialist who suggested I had SOD. He recommended a MRI with contrast.
I am tired of the discomfort, the repeated blood tests and almost yearly ultrasounds, MRIs, CT scans and liver biopsies.
The pain is one thing, but the concern over a life threatening liver problem is worse.
