extreme pain round the colon area

by Angela
(Australia)

I'm 14 years old and I've had extreme pain for the past 4 days around the colon area (right side in line with belly button or just a little bit down from inline). The pain can be so bad that it hurts to breathe. I went to the doctor, all he did was manipulate my back thinking I twisted a muscle in the abdomen. I just need something to numb the pain! I can't do my normal routine anymore without being in pain. Please help me.

Hi Angela,

You will need to go back to see your doctor as soon as possible if you are still experiencing "extreme pain around the colon area". The region you are describing your pain to be in is where people have pain when they are suffering with appendicitis, or ovarian cyst, commonly in women of your age group.

The pain could also be due to several other causes. Because you describe it as been so severe, the sooner a doctor, or another doctor sees you the better.

We always advice that if you have serious recent onset pain, the best approach is to see a doctor, especially if the pain lasts for more than an hour.

Please do not hesitate to come back to us if you need any further help and we would be grateful if you could update us with what was eventually found to be wrong, once you feel better.

Wishing you a quick recovery, Angela.
