Epiploic appendagitis causing severe lower left side abdominal pain

I went to the ER in the middle of the night because the pain was too severe to sleep.

When I checked in, the doc thought it might just be constipation because the pain was on the lower left abdomen.

I knew it wasn't because the pain was too intense for constipation and I never get constipated anyway. He ordered a CT and the good radiologist detected this epiploic appendagitis.

The doc explained it to me and said the only thing they can do is give pain meds and high doses of aug/amox. He said I would have to be in pain for a few days and should go away eventually.

I'm glad to know what it is and what it isn't. It's worth getting it checked out because it is very similar to appendicitis and I was able to avoid unnecessary surgery.

The docs here at the ER and IHC hospital in Salt Lake City are awesome.

They haven't mis-diagnosed anything yet! I've been in and out of the hospital a lot lately for different things.
